Kids Camp: Islamic Architecture & Model Making

Immerse yourself in the vibrant art and culture scene of London and inspire the kids during school holidays!

Ages: 5 – 9 yrs and 10 -14 yrs

This one week camp will take children out every morning to fun and interesting visits to leading museums, galleries, iconic architectural sites and parks in London with curators, and art workshop co-ordinators. Children will learn about the key elements of Islamic architecture and interpret this in a contemporary context.

Afternoons will be jam packed with arts & crafts activities, paper & foam board model making, lego brick model making, clay crafts and interior design.

For older children there will be sessions on Minecraft, Photoshop and Indesign model building for older children for which laptops will be required but may be loaned if necessary.

Tickets: £50 per day

Barakat Members: £40 per day

The children will be supervised by members of staff and volunteers during visits and activities.

Reminder: Please remember to pack lunch for your children, Under 5 years old must be accompanied by and adult or guardian.

– Tuesday 30th May
Victoria and Albert Museum
Discover a range of traditional and international architecture at the Jameel Gallery located in the V&A. Under 9yrs will engage with arts and crafts, 10yrs+ will learn how to create their own model with Sketch-up and Photoshop

– Wednesday 31st May
Kensington Palace Gardens
Learn about the geometry of garden design and take inspiration from the Alhambra Palace in Spain. Be inspired and create your own model.

– Thursday 1st June
Design Museum
Take a tour of the newly launched Design Museum and explore the latest trends.Under 9yrs will engage with arts and crafts, 10yrs+ will learn how to create their own model with Sketch-up and Photoshop

– Friday 2nd June
Beckonscot Model Village
Join us for a great day out at Beckonscot Model Village.Discover the intricate and magical detail of model making and take inspiration to create your own models at home
